Things I am loving in lockdown #2
- Being outside every day whatever the weather. I’m sure I’m healthier and happier for it, rather than spending most of the winter at indoor venues and friends houses.
- The crunch of ice beneath my feet
- The sight of one of Edinburgh’s beautiful hills covered in snow emerging between cityscapes
- Not rushing around to different activities – taking life slowly
- The feel of a hot tea in my cold hands
- The shrieks of children sledging and making snowmen
- Curling up with a good book
- The amazing opportunities available online. So many courses, talks, groups, exercise classes have moved online, putting the previously inaccessible right at our finger tips.
- Feeding the birds and watching them from my window
- Lighting a beautiful candle
- A long soak in the bath
- Crisp, cold sunny days
- Online quizzes with friends – lots of fun, and very almost as good as the real thing!
- Putting on music and dancing around the room
- Giving my body the time to rest
When we appreciate the small and feel gratitude for all those small things that make us happy, our mindset immediately shifts to the positive. Focus is on all the things that you are missing out on and how rubbish this time is going to be, only drives an inevitable mental slump.
For those of you feeling overwhelmed with home schooling, work and life, this is a tough ask. But, in these unprecedented times, nothing matters other than yours and your family’s physical and mental health. All the other things might just have to fall by the wayside a little for this short period.
If you need help with changing your mindset, I am offering sessions online (and in person where needed) and offer a FREE 15 minute consultation.
