Worrying about Zoom meetings?
It’s a very different world we find ourselves in. Meetings conducted online can be difficult for all sorts of practical reasons, but for many people they are difficult for an entirely different reason.
Many people struggle with feeling that they are not good enough at work (often called imposter syndrome). For these people, meetings were manageable when they were in a room with colleagues. This meant that they were able to check in on other’s reactions to their comments, and see how they were with them as the meeting finished and everyone got into the lift together to go back to their desks.
When that external validation is taken away, and meetings are conducted online with very little opportunity to know that the things you have said are acceptable, many people are left in a spiral of self-doubt and endless worrying and questioning: ‘would anyone have taken offence to what I said?’ ‘Was that a stupid thing to say?’ etc. This can be exhausting and hugely affect confidence levels.
The way to change this is to start looking within for validation. The combination of CBT and hypnotherapy is fantastic for enabling this to happen; clearing old negative beliefs and opening the way for something much more realistic and positive to take its place.
